I started off the year by trying to give up pop all together, then I allowed myself 1 pop a month, then I went crazy and had a fountain soda or mountain dew anytime I saw it in the fridge. My hubby enjoys himself a regular Coke almost every day so when I was buying him pop at the store, I'd add in some Mountain Dew just to "mix things up" which in fitness girl talk equals "operation sabotage"!! It's not even the caffeine I crave because it usually makes me cray cray and catch insomnia. It's just another fattie addiction that I realized I need to give up. So now, I'm going cold turkey off the Dewski. In my quest to drink more water and no pop I compiled my 5 fav foodie finds that are helping me in my sans pop and fitness journey.
Green Tea: I have a cup of this almost every morning. I usually get decaf so I'm not crazyballs all day and add 1/2 teaspoon of honey for some natural sweetness and a splash of milk for only 32 cals total. Green tea has a boatload of health benefits and is known to help fight disease and other illnesses that might be in yo body yo! I like to attribute this to the fact that I haven't been sick all year! Okay, I realize it's only 28 days into 2013 but seriously, I started drinking this in November and haven't had even a little cold or stuffy nose since!! It's also supposed to speed up metabolism and slow down the signs of aging...done and done!
Diet Snapple Half 'n Half: I just found this at Target yesterday when I was trying to steer clear of their newly added Starbucks. Does it get any better? Cheap bikinis staring you in the face, makeup, groceries and now Starbucks all in the same place!!! This was only 10 calories and pure deliciousness. I'm sure they use a no calorie sweetener so I wouldn't drink one every day but it's a great substitute for my sugar-filled Dewskis.
Fast food finds: Add these to any homemade healthy version of that greasy food and you're still getting that Taco Bell wholesome goodness (ha!) but staying in your calorie budget. I've started to hoard these sauces like it's the Apocalypse and add them whenever we have Mexican food at home or if I want to spice up a salad. If you like other fast food restaurants like McD's, maybe use a little of their nugget sauce on baked chicken strips or use Arby's sauce on your own sandwiches for a skinny version.
Creative leftovers: I used leftover grilled chicken from my Faturday outing to cut up and put on a salad yesterday. I get the yummy Faturday flavor but not all the calories. I also use any and all meat leftovers on my no carb days. Chicken or pulled pork or taco meat can really kick up a salad the next day like BAM!
Drink yo water! I love to have fun drinking cups to bring to work so I drink up my 64 ounces of water a day. These Tervis cups are cute, hilarious and you can add a lid, straw and personalization. They are also available at Bed, Bath and Beyond so you can use your 20% off coupon and holla for that dolla saved!
There's your key to weight loss right there folks...I know it's not groundbreaking, but I hope these little tips and tricks will help you fitness friends! Make it a great week!

I love those diet half tea/half lemonade Snapples! So good!
ReplyDeleteI love this post! I blame our mother for the Mountain Dew addiction - never allowed to have it and then we chugged 'em by the case when Dad was in charge :)
ReplyDeleteCute tumbler and that salad looks good. I am in the mood for salad today.
ReplyDeleteAnother great post! Our local Walmart sells taco bell sauce in the bottles so I stopped having to hoard them:) For me, to get the sauce meant I had to go to Taco Bell and who goes to Taco Bell without shoving 34939 calories down their throat? Not me anyway. Two words. Dorito. Tacos.
ReplyDeleteNick drank a whole gallon of that sweet tea stuff last week. Thanks target LOL Loved this post!
