The power of pink shoelaces

Good Monday Morning fellow fitness freaks! I am walking like a granny cowgirl this morning thanks to a first time spinning class on Saturday and my 6 1/2 miles yesterday. Yep, I wasn't 100% sure I would make it all 6.5 miles but I did it and immediately immersed myself in this a la Mama Laughlin
I made myself take an ice bath after lots of stretching and hydrating since I was already sore on my lady parts thanks to spinning. I'm not sure if this helped or not but I don't think I'm as sore as I can possibly be, so maybe goosebumps for 20 minutes was worth it!

I usually look forward to my long runs but I think I've been slacking a little bit in keeping up with running. Now that I'm back on track with no Faturdays and no long trips to mess with my schedule it's an official comeback! I'd like to say these pink shoelaces were what kept me going
If you follow me on Instagram (@numbaonerunner) you saw that my sweet BFF sent me these babies with a note encouraging me to "Just Keep Running". She lived with me for 2 years in the college days so she knows my unhealthy obsession with pink....and coincidentally bought me these pink shoes as seen in the photoshoot of me and KaraG below.

In fact, my whole outfit was outright obnoxious pink, but whenever I'd get to feeling like I wanted to walk, or quit, I thought of how my shirt was falsely telling people I run 13.1 miles for fun and I looked the part of a runner, so I had to keep it up.

That, and this song came on during mile 4.5
It was just the pick me up I needed! Thanks PSY!

In weight loss news, I've tried to stop weighing myself obsessively, but I figured with no pop, no faturdays and all this high calorie burning activity I would be dropping poundage like whoa. I don't want to say the "P" word because I'm afraid it will come true and I'm definitely happy with the weight I'm at but would like to see if I can get to my goal weight for Operation Red Bikini. This morning, after feeling defeated for being "stuck" at the same number for 2 weeks, I decided to only "weigh in" on Fridays and remembered the boozefest girls weekend was just a short week ago so I'm not beating myself up. I'm also doing Ripped in 30 everyday which is a lot of muscle toning. On my crazy cardio days, I'm just doing the weights and abs and giving myself a break (if that's what you can call it) from the cardio intervals. I'll keep telling myself I'm gaining muscle and losing fat right now which is why my scale is broken stuck at the same numba (see what I did there?:)

Anyone else have some cardio firsts this weekend or fun dates with Jillian? (if that's even possible)

Make it a great week friends!!

  2. WOOHOO you are awesome! That 13.1 shirt has gotta "get your ass in gear!" -Dad

Also, I'm sad to say that Ted demolished one of the leopard shoes yesterday...of course it isn't his fault - I left them on the floor and he didn't have anything else to chew on (just when you thought I couldn't be any more of a crazy dog lady...)

  3. Oh, spin! I took a class once and loved it! But I do cardio plus and yoga instead because they're back-to-back and I'm really trying hard to increase my flexibility with yoga and yoga-like classes. I bet the spinning is going to really step up your running game. Go Kristie! :)

  4. I love the pink laces! I hate taking an ice bath, but I hate being sore even more. You are killing it with Jillian Michaels and running. I need to step it up!

  6. So impressed you can do ice baths. I'm such a wuss and won't even consider it. When I eventually have to train for a marathon, I know I'm going to have to get over it....

Psy makes me run faster, too. So does the Vanilla Ice Zumba Remix. You should check it out :)
